Maple is a virtual telemedicine service, billed separately from the CSU Health and Dental Plan, that offers students unlimited virtual access to general practitioners 24/7 via a mobile or web app. You can request a consultation with a physician and connect via text, audio, or video in minutes. General practitioners can provide medical advice and issue digital prescriptions, lab requisitions, diagnostic imaging requests, medical notes and specialist referrals. Maple can be used from anywhere, including when you’re outside Canada for medical advice.

The cost of Maple for full-year coverage is $10.95 ($3.65 billed in the Fall, and $7.30 billed in the Winter). If you wish to opt out of Maple, you will be able to during the opt-out period in the fall or in the winter. The opt-out periods fall under the same date ranges as the CSU Health and Dental Plan: from September 5th to October 4th, 2024 for the Fall semester, and from January 22nd to February 20th, 2025 for the Winter semester.

What can I do with Maple?

Maple is a mobile service that virtually connects you to general practitioners. Here is a comprehensive list of services you can access through Maple:

Unlimited consultations with a general practitioner, available 24/7 in minutes via text, video, or audio call.
Receive medical advice, diagnosis, prescriptions, lab requisitions, diagnostic imaging requests, medical notes, and more.
Option to securely fax your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice or select free delivery.
A virtual medical record which you have complete control and ownership over at all times.

What is Maple ideal for?

Doctors can treat many conditions online. This includes cold & flu symptoms, infections, chronic conditions, skin problems, sexual health concerns, mental health issues and many more.

Maple is not intended for medical emergencies. If you believe you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911 or visit your nearest emergency room. If you require narcotics or controlled medications, our providers cannot legally prescribe these virtually.

How much does it cost?

The total cost of the Plan is $10.95 for students starting in September. The policy year is from Sept. 1, 2024 – Aug. 31, 2025. For students beginning their studies in January, the cost of the Plan is $7.30 for coverage from Jan. 1 – Aug. 31, 2025. The cost of the plan is automatically included in your tuition and other fees.

How do I opt out from Maple?

To opt-out from Maple, visit the Maple webpage and complete the online opt-out form within the relevant opt-out period.

The opt-out period is September 5th to October 4th, 2024. Should you miss this deadline, you will have the opportunity to opt out again in the winter, from January 22nd to February 20th 2025.

Please note that there are two types of opt outs: annual and permanent. Annual opt outs will remove your coverage for one policy year, and you will be automatically re-enrolled the following policy year (beginning September 1st). Be aware that permanent opt outs are final and your coverage will not be reinstated the following policy year. Should you decide to re-enroll into the Maple plan after a permanent opt out, you will be responsible for your re-enrolment.

I opted out. What happens now?

If you have opted out within the Opt-Out Period, the fees you paid for access to Maple will be credited to your student account shortly after the period ends. If you have opted out outside the Opt-out Period, it may take up to a month for the credit to appear on your student account.

You may choose to leave the credit on your student account and it will automatically be applied to fees owed in the next semester. You can also request to get refunded by the Student Accounts Office. For more information on refunds, visit the online page on Refund of fees.

My residency status has changed. How do I opt-out of the Telemedicine Services?
